Code of Conduct

Scarsdale has long-standing expectations for conduct that reflect qualities of character: civility, decency, good citizenship, respect, tolerance, and integrity. The Code of Conduct (“Code”) defines these expectations, consequences for unacceptable behavior, and processes for prompt and fair discipline. The Code applies to all students, staff, parents, and other visitors on school property or at school functions. It replaces all previous Board disciplinary policies. The Superintendent and the principals are authorized to adopt regulations and procedures for conduct and discipline, provided they are not inconsistent with the Code. 

Phone-Free Schools – Annual Report

Beginning in September 2025, New York enacted a statewide, bell-to-bell restrictions on smartphones in K-12 schools. Under the regulations, school districts across New York adopted their own policy for restricting smartphones – empowering administrators and teachers to advance a plan that works best for their buildings and students. The regulations also require that districts publish a report summarizing enforcement of the policy during the previous school year. Click here for the most recent report for the Scarsdale Public Schools.

School Safety and Educational Climate (SSEC)

The New York State Education Department's (SED) School Safety and Educational Climate (SSEC) Summary Data Collection Form is a part of SED's implementation of the Dignity for All Students Act and violent and disruptive incident reporting. Data regarding violent or disruptive incidents, is compiled to comply with New York State reporting requirements. Annual incident data can be found here.
