Have A Safe & Restful Break!
We wish our entire community a safe and restful mid-winter break! As a reminder, our schools will be closed Monday, February 16th, through Friday, February 20th, and will resume on Monday, February 23rd. Please note that we will be testing our emergency systems on Friday, March 20th, so if you are in the neighborhood, you may hear our lockdown alarm or announcement. Here are a few upcoming dates to keep in mind.
  • Monday, March 2nd - BOE Budget Study Session #2
  • Elementary Parent Teacher Conferences - March 19th, 24th, and 26th (register by 2/22 @ 11PM; click here for info)
  • Friday, March 20th - Superintendent Conference Day (no students)
Tips for a Scam-Free Break
School breaks and seasonal holidays are busy times for email scams. Be on the lookout for too-good-to-be-true Valentine's shopping deals, unexpected flower deliveries that require you to "confirm payment details", the winning of Valentine-themed giveaways, or the ubiquitous request for gift cards. If you'd like to brush up on your phishing-identification skills, try the Google Phishing Quiz: https://phishingquiz.withgoogle.com/. Have a tech-safe break!
Math Parent Coffee 2/26/26
Join us Thursday, February 26th, at QRS from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM for our Elementary Math Fluency Parent Workshop/Coffee. All interested elementary school parents and caregivers are invited. The event is a follow-up to our June 2026 Parent Coffee and will be hosted by school leaders, math curriculum leaders, and teachers from across our five elementary schools. We look forward to highlighting, modeling, and celebrating the important K-5 math fluency work happening across our schools and sharing tips on how to support your child at home. Please note that this is not a feedback session about the program. We will be hosting parent Zoom on March 24th (details forthcoming) to discuss the program. Please visit our Elementary Mathematics curriculum site for more information about our elementary program.
Kids' B.A.S.E. After School Program
Building on the success of the Kids’ B.A.S.E. pilot this school year, we are pleased to announce the continued offering of the program at Edgewood and Greenacres, along with its expansion to Fox Meadow for the 2026–2027 school year. Kids’ B.A.S.E. offers K-5 after school care from 3 - 6 PM for Scarsdale elementary school students. The nurturing staff and stimulating environment offer an exciting alternative to in-home child care while providing opportunities for socialization, relaxation, and enrichment. Public registration begins Monday, March 23, 2026. Registration packets will be available on the KBLS website starting March 1, 2026. Click here to download the information flyer.
Tweens, Screens & Digital Safety
Join IRL Scarsdale on Monday, February 23rd, from 7:30 - 9:00 PM for timely discussion for parents of 5th & 4th Graders about navigating decisions around phones ahead of middle school. The event will focus on healthy tech habits that prioritize mental health, academics & internet safety as the middle school transition approaches, and discuss how parents can come together to make these important decisions. The event will include an interactive presentation from Digital Wellness Expert Katey McPherson. Katey is a veteran public educator who has dedicated the second half of her career to online protection and wellness of children. Detective Christopher Moleski from the Scarsdale Police Department will also join the conversation. Attendees will have the unique chance to demo the Bark Phone, a kid-safe alternative phone, at end of event (9-9:30pm).
