Capital Projects Bond Update
On Monday evening, the Capital Projects Steering Committee presented preliminary recommendations to the Board of Education about a proposed scope of work for inclusion in the next capital projects bond referendum. Projects recommended included critical infrastructure updates, air conditioning work, field work, and a suite of new construction and renovation projects. A total preliminary work scope of $95.6 million was discussed. We encourage the public to view the presentation and discussion (start at the 42:30 mark), and stay tuned for information about bond-specific community input events in October and November. Bookmark our Bond Planning website to keep up-to-date.
Elementary Math Update
Dr. Edgar McIntosh recently presented an update on the summer program improvement work related to elementary math. Improvements included K-1 Curriculum Formatting and Language Revisions, the selection and adoption of additional Math for Love enrichment materials, and a plan for Fluency Benchmarking assessments K-5.
District Safety Plan - Comment Period
At Monday's BOE meeting, discussion over the addition of cardiac emergency procedures to our District and Building Safety Plans took place. This opened a 30 day public comment period, which can be directed to Eric Rauschenbach. The revised plan will be considered for adoption at the October 27 Board of Education meeting. Please visit our SSEM page on the website for further information about our plans and procedures.
QR Garden Ribbon Cutting!
Quaker Ridge Elementary School will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 10:45 AM to celebrate the relocation and expansion of its school garden into the school’s main courtyard. The Quaker Ridge Garden has been reimagined as a vibrant outdoor classroom, giving students hands-on opportunities to explore science, sustainability, and the joy of growing food together. Thank you to the Quaker Ridge PTA, families, staff, custodians, and student-gardeners for making this come to life!
