Budget Vote & Election Tuesday
The 2025-26 Budget Vote & Board Election will take place on TUESDAY, MAY 20 from 7 am to 9 pm at Scarsdale Middle School, 134 Mamaroneck Ave, Scarsdale, NY. The $191,504,833 proposed budget reflects a 3.4% tax levy increase, and results in an estimated 1.77% tax rate increase for Scarsdale, and a -0.23% decrease for Mamaroneck strip residents. Plenty of parking will be available. We hope you will participate!
Math, Joy, & Non-Sibi @ GA
Last week was Math Week at Greenacres, an initiative that grew out of our STI course, Building a Math Community at Greenacres. The week was filled with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences across all grade levels. On Thursday morning, the entire school community gathered to watch over 1,400 cereal boxes topple in a domino-style chain reaction. In partnership with the Community Service Committee, all 1,400+ boxes were donated to the Kol Ami Food Pantry, supporting families in need throughout our broader community.
Art & Math @ Edgewood
Last week was a busy one at Edgewood, as Mr. Fitzpatrick hosted the annual Art Show, and students geared up for the Edgewood Fair by flexing their problem solving muscles in a "Math Stroll & Solve." Ms. Brown, Mr. Cadalzo, and Ms. Drapek organized this exciting camp-themed experience that got students outside and moving around campus, engaging their brains and their bodies. Click here to see a few pictures from these events. Congratulations to Edgewood's artists and mathematicians!
Elementary Math Website
The Curriculum Office has developed and launched an updated K-5 Math Website. The site was launched last week and is located on the Elementary Curriculum page. The site includes grade-by-grade scope and sequence information, along with parent letters and replay videos that review essential math concepts. There are also links to practice resources, and presentations including the Elementary Math Update provided this past Monday night.
NYS Youth Council
The New York State Governor’s Youth Council engages youth in state government and creates a platform for their voices to be heard by policymakers. Members of the NYS Governor’s Youth Council offer solutions to key issues facing young people in NYS to the Governor and other policymakers, including how to have better outreach and communication strategies to young people. Residents of Westchester County are invited to apply by June 4, 2025, via the Application Portal.
