	2025-26 Budget Adopted The 2025-26 School Budget was adopted by the Board of Education on April 7, 2025. The annual budget vote and Board election is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Scarsdale Middle School. Here is the a 1-sheet summary of the budget and what it seeks to accomplish for students. Keep an eye on the Friday Five in the lead up to the budget for more details.
	Kindness at Heathcote Heathcote has debuted their completed Be Kind mural, located in their new multipurpose room. Every student and staff member contributed, and a dedicated team of parent volunteers and staff brought it to life. Special thanks to Brendan Buckley from District Facilities for installing the backing and framing. The mural now stands as a meaningful reminder of our shared care and commitment to one another.
	Speech & Debate Success! SHS students once again performed brilliantly at the NYS Speech and Debate Championships. We had 35 entries representing the 43 students that qualified for the tournament through their successes this season. Students compete in 8 different speech categories and 2 different debate categories. The tournament had 77 schools from across the state competing and a total of over 800 entries. Scarsdale placed 3rd overall in the Team Sweepstakes Award. Congratulations to our students, and thanks to advisor and Tournament Director Joe Vaughan!
	Math Team Scores at NYSML! Scarsdale's Math Team finished in 3rd place in Division A at the NYS Math League Championships, behind NYC and Nassau County. This was our first time competing in Division A, having been in B the past two years. Kevin Dong and Iris Wang were the highest scorers for our team in the Individual Round, both scoring 9/10. Kenneth Ren won the Berman-Rockow Award, given to students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership to their team. Thank you to Sam Greenberg for coaching, and to Anna Tomasini and Joe Garibaldi for supporting the students and chaperoning.
	Auditorium Sneak Peak! The newly renovated SHS auditorium opened for business today for our students! The annual student talent show, Jabberfest, filled the space with joyful student performances. We are looking forward to a formal ribbon cutting ceremony on April 28 at 7 pm, prior to our HS Orchestra and Chamber Ensemble spring performances. Thank you to our community for making this revitalized space a reality for our students, and we look forward to sharing an album of photos in an upcoming edition of this newsletter!
